Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. It is the most-loved month for many Muslims. For different reasons, of course.

In Ramadan, usually even the very weak Muslims will fast, even if they do not pray all of their 5 daily prayers. For stronger Muslims, they will try harder to pray their 5 daily prayers on time and even attempt the nightly Taraweeh at the Islamic Centres, Mosques or homes. And perhaps you have even noticed that some non-Hijabis will start donning the Hijab too! Alhamdulillah.

So, you can certainly say that Ramadan is a month where Muslims around the world try to be better Muslims and increase in their fear and love for Allah SWT. Sure, everyone’s level of commitment and steadfastness is different. But the important thing is one should try hard to please one’s Maker, as much as one can. Every effort counts, in shaa Allah! So, aim to make each Ramadan more productive than the last.

Here below will be a number of useful tips that may make your Ramadan that little bit sweeter and more beneficial, in shaa Allah! May Allah accept your deeds throughout Ramadan, forgive all of your sins and increase your Taqwa! May Allah make your Ramadan be very special always. May Allah make each Ramadan be the best one yet, for you and your family. And may Allah love you all more and more with each passing Ramadan! Ameen Yaa Rabb Al Áalameen.

Du’aa” Before Fasting

Note that there is no specific du’aa” to be recited when starting to fast. You can make it in your own language. In your heart. You don’t have to say it aloud at all. You can choose to make the intention to fast for the whole month or for each individual day or both, in shaa Allah.

Du’aa” When Breaking the Fast

There is a recommended du’aa” that can be read when breaking one’s fast. (For the videos on this du’aa” and other useful information, scroll further down, in shaa Allah. )

.

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2357; al-Daaraqutni, 25. Ibn Hajar said in al-Talkhees al-Habeer (2/202): al-Daaraqutni said, its isnaad is saheeh.

And other narrations as well.

(Note: Actually, the better word to use is ‘pardon’. “O Allah, You are the Pardoner and You love to Pardoner, so pardon me.” ‘Pardon’ is a stronger term than ‘forgive’ as in ‘pardon’, one not only forgives but one erases the wrong as well. Subhaan Allah!)
