Nasheeds

(Last updated: 28/1/2019)

In Section A, some beautiful English or Arabic or Bahasa or Urdu Nasheeds or Islamic-based songs or Halal songs without musical instruments are featured, in shaa Allah.  🙂  Note that sometimes, a duff may be used. Or sometimes, claps or acapella voices or other hand sounds are used. Alhamdulillah! 😀

In Section B, here, some nice nasheeds are shared but they are sadly accompanied by musical instruments! It is certainly not ideal. It is not right. It is haram. But we too are weak sometimes. SubhaanAllah! We hope that these artistes will make “vocals-only” or acapella versions of their songs soon, in shaa Allah! May Allah forgive us for listening to or using the musical instruments! 😦

Nonetheless, the songs in Section B are still better than any non-Islamic songs that we may hear in the shops, on tv, on the internet or in the movies, etc.  ❤

However, if you are stronger than this small, poor soul called me, do skip Section B altogether. Alhamdulillah! 😀 That is a better choice. May Allah increase us in our strength against our nafs and shaytan! Ameen!

By the way, do remember that we should not listen to nasheeds ALL the time. If we constantly listen to it, it may become a habitual practice which may take our valuable time away from reciting, memorising or listening to the Quran, which is the best form of soother for the soul, ears, eyes, heart, body and mind, in shaa Allah. “Indeed, in the remembrance of Allah, do hearts find rest.” (Quran; 13:28)

So, there must be a good balance between entertainment and beneficial activities such as reading, memorising or listening to the Quran, listening to Islamic lectures and learning about seerah or other Islamic subjects, doing dhikr, doing voluntary Salaah (the extra Salaah, i.e. Sunnah or Naafil or Nawafil Salaah), doing muhasabah, doing muraqabah, etc.

Let’s try not to make nasheeds the only extra Islamic activity that you do each day, besides Salaah.

Tip: If you find it hard to reduce your hours of Nasheeds, perhaps you can make yourself listen to an equal number of minutes for Nasheeds and recitation or listening of the Quran. So, let’s say if you are going to listen to 2 hours of Nasheeds each day, then make yourself also listen to 2 hours of Quran from your favourite reciters. Force yourself to be more accountable for your time. Shaytan is cunning. He’ll try to make you busy or be in ghafla. But you can outsmart shaytan, in shaa Allah. Take hold of your time. Plan.

Your time is precious.

Some Reminders:

  • Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], “Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (Quran; 3:191)
  • The Prophet(ﷺ) said: “The people of Paradise will not have any regrets except for those moments in which they were not engaged in the dhikr (remembrance) of Allah.” [Saheeh, related by lbnus-Sunnee in ‘Aml al-Yawma wal-Laylah (no.3). Refer to Saheehul-Jaami’ no.5446]
  • “Is the one whose heart Allah has opened to Islam and is walking in the light from his Rabb like the one who has learned no lesson and is still a non-Muslim. So woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah! They are clearly in error.” (Quran; 39:22)
  • “Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah . That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray – for him there is no guide.” (Quran; 39:23)
  • “O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allah much that you may be successful.” (Quran; 8:45)
  • “Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.” (Quran; 29:45)

More Dhikr & Voluntary Salaah Reminders:

  • The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the Scales and are dear to the Merciful: ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan-Allahil-Azim [Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, (and) Allah, the Greatest is free from imperfection]’.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. • The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who utters a hundred times in a day these words: ‘La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa ‘ala kulli sha’in Qadir (there is no true god except Allah. He is One and He has no partner with Him; His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent),’ he will have a reward equivalent to that for emancipating ten slaves, a hundred good deeds will be recorded to his credit, hundred of his sins will be blotted out from his scroll, and he will be safeguarded against the devil on that day till the evening; and no one will exceed him in doing more excellent good deeds except someone who has recited these words more often than him. And he who utters: ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi (Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise)’ one hundred times a day, his sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the ocean.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. [https://sunnah.com/riyadussaliheen/16. • The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The similitude of one who remembers his Rabb and one who does not remember Him, is like that of the living and the dead.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
